On the 1st of September, also known as Spring Day, the SUPsistas celebrated their 5th Birthday with a beach party in Small Bay, Bloubergstrand. The morning was filled with fun, and smiles were drifting around everywhere. The SUPsistas enjoyed several challenging games, in and out of the water. Thereafter, a raffle was held to raise funds.
The SUPsistas had decided that all the proceeds of the day would go towards a child named Francois van Deventer. Francois was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy when he was one year old. He now needs to go to a special school where he can get the care and therapy that will help him cope.
His parents need to raise R50 000 to make this a reality.
Karina Figl, founder of SUPsistas, explains “Our mission is to inspire women to have fun on the sea and to raise funds to support children empowerment programs. Hearing Francois story on the radio SUPsistas decided to organize a raffle and we are excited to donate R 5000 towards Francois education.”
Francois parents are also holding a fundraiser on the 30 September 2016 at Rooikranz Hall, Grassy Park. Hopefully they will be able to raise enough money to pay for a new, special therapy that will be extra helpful for this special little boy.
